Antoinette

Anna Gajewska, Crossfield, AB

Dimensions: 20" x 60"

Techniques: Couching, machine-quilted

Artist’s Statement:
Antoinette was inspired by a fabric I was given by my friend. Dressmaking is my profession, so I loved the beautiful satin immediately. I connoted it with Marie Antoinette’s dresses, which are a great part of fashion history. A major part of the project is a corset. I created a pattern using a small-size mannequin and a draping technique. I quilted the corset using a couching technique. The skirt completes the outfit.
